More than 50 people participated in a game show titled "InDesign® Survivor: Return to Butterfly Island." The game was hosted by Brian Lucier, instructor at MassArt and a designer, and included five brave souls who volunteered to play the game.
The format was simple. The contestants were asked a series of questions relating to the features of InDesign. Contestants received a point for each correct answer. David Marley accumulated the most points and was rewarded with a copy of the Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium software package. The second-prize winner, Arthur Contois, received InDesign CS2, and the third-prize winner enjoyed the Total Training DVD set for InDesign CS2.
Along the way, the show gave the judge, Noha Edell, of Adobe Systems, an occasional chance to demonstrate the principaleor feature in question. Based on returned evaluations, the show was a ratings hit and will no doubt return next season.
The evening concluded with a huge raffle, with the prizes ranging from books, T-shirts, and DVDs to a copy of InDesign CS2. Our thanks to the sponsors for providing the raffle prizes and for their special discounts for our members.
Thanks again to Brian for playing the host role, those who volunteered to play the game, and the rest of those in attendance for being such an enthusiastic audience. Thanks also to Isadora Williams, MassArt's Adobe student rep, for her assistance, and to Cliff Myers for providing all the technical support.
