In response to member requests, we are deferring the presentations of PDF2ID and Smart Image to a later meeting in favor of a presentation by Hanaan Rosenthal of Custom Flow Solutions on "Automating Graphing and Charting."
Our guest speaker will demonstrate a system he created for the New York Times business pages, that takes financial data from a variety of sources to create exciting graphs in Illustrator-native format that go right into your InDesign documents. For those of you who have stressed over getting accurate, good-looking graphs into your documents, this is the real deal.
In addition, for those who want to discuss the potential for graphing-automation in their publications, Hanaan has offered to make himself available for private conferences before and after the meeting. Check out
http://www.customflowsolutions.com to learn more, and then e-mail
hanaan@customflowsolutions.com to schedule an appointment.
After that, we will explore the powerful new plug-in FOLDRite Template Master, from Networkpdf.com (
http://www.networkpdf.com).
Later in the program, our friend and guardian angel, Adobe's Noha Edell, will present the ins and outs of long document construction. Along the way, Noha will also demystify synchronizing multiple docs via the Book panel, creating tables of contents, indexing, and cross-references. But that's not all: in the process of constructing documents, she'll hit on many other important CS4 features along the way. To get an idea of the features she'll cover, download Noha's outline at
http://indesignusergroup.com/events/event_attachments/LongDocumentsDemofeatures.pdf.
Finally, you will have the opportunity to meet the new BIDUG Steering Committee, hear a little about our new vision for BIDUG, with the option to volunteer and become active in BIDUG’s future.
The evening will conclude with a customary raffle.
