Boston InDesign User Group

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of its roll-out, InDesign has distinguished itself as a premier tool for print design. In recognition of this role, we have assembled a panel of recognized print and pre-print professionals to: • Discuss pre-press and printing processes • Offer tips for getting your design files to the presses • Answer questions regarding print and pre-print (of which we are sure there will be many)

Our Panel:

James Wamser, of Sells Printing Company, is an Adobe Certified Instructor with over 16 years of experience in the graphic arts industry. James provides training and technical support for Sells’ customers as well as its prepress department. James has been working with Adobe InDesign prior to the release of version 1.0 and is an InDesign instructor at Waukesha County Technical College. His is also the Co-Chair of the Milwaukee InDesign User Group. Christopher Pompei is the Senior Technical Advisor at Bowne & Co., an international leader in financial publishing, printing and consultation. Chris is a key player in designing workflow strategies for Bowne’s distributive print network. He is an accomplished pre-print professional and distinguished for developing many models for integrated/automated workflow solutions at Bowne. Dan Biron is the Manager of the Watertown branch of Air Graphics, a leading digital, reprographic, and large-format print bureau in the Boston area. He is also the lead manager in all of Air Graphics color and large-format printing production, making him a premier specialist in those areas.

Our Program:

(Just in time for Thanksgiving) First, join us early for a pizza reception to warm up to our presentations, and a opportunity to participate in our popular and exciting RAFFLE! (This close to the holidays....the raffle could work out for you!) We will begin with short presentations by our three panelists, addressing basic overviews of pre-press for offset printing processes, digital printing processes, and how Adobe’s Creative Suite works together to provide a comprehensive and effective design/output resource! We will then break to celebrate InDesign’s 10th birthday with CAKE and good company. To wrap, there's the Question and Answer session (and we’re sure you will have many questions by now)! Speak up—our panelists will help to hone your knowledge and abilities! And we understand that there may be some special attention given to interesting printing and design tips!

Afterward, attendees are encouraged to join the panelists and IDUG steering committee for networking, good company and libations across the street at the Squealing Pig (134 Smith Street, Boston )
